Love Yourself - IT MATTERS!

Today is a new day and your chance to acknowledge your special gifts. I invite you to complete the following exercise to discover your special gifts. Below is the exercise - read the full article in the Love Yourself - IT MATTERS Blog.

  1. Ask someone you feel very comfortable with if they would help with a special project you are doing. If they say, "Yes."

  2. Explain that you are going to tell them what you like about them and then they can tell you what they like about you.

  3. Continue this exercise two more times.

  4. Give each other a big hug if you are together.

  5. Write yourself a letter listing what you like about yourself and what your friend told you.

  6. Mail the letter to yourself.

  7. Read the letter often to remind yourself of the special gifts you give to others and what a beautiful person you are.

After completing the exercise and discovering your special gifts, acknowledge yourself for who you are.

Now it is Your Turn!

FEARS ARE BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE

My take on Dolly Parton's quote is that by accepting our fears you will find your rainbow. We always hear that in order to find a solution to a challenge you must accept what is happening. Sometimes I think this is all talk, but when I do accept what is happening, the opportunities start presenting themselves.

Most people run away from their feelings, worries and fears. They make themselves busy so they don't have to think about what is going on in their lives - me included.

The other night I felt so lonely I had to run out of the house. I went to Barnes and Noble to see what new books were on the bestseller's list and have a cup of coffee. When I got to the store it was crowded. I left and headed to Home Depot to buy bird food. As I was leaving the store it hit me that my fear of being alone was dictating my life.

On the way home I started thinking about what was happening. Within a short period of time I realized that my fear of loneliness was helping me cope. I thanked my fear and felt better. The next time I have an attack of loneliness I can thank the fear and see what options are available so I can take of myself.
