Love Yourself - IT MATTERS

October / 2009

A few weeks ago Russ and I received a special gift, we attended a small intimate gathering to hear Ben Zander speak. He spoke about "Possibilities." Ben is the co-author of the book "Art of Possibility."

Many coaches remember Ben's Key-Note presentations at the ICF Conferences. He is still fantastic!

Years ago when my focus was on the fact that my coaching practice might never be successful, I heard Ben speak about "Possibilities." After reading his book, something changed in my thinking.

We can dwell on negative thoughts which spiral down or we can make a choice make a choice to think about something that makes us happy and will raise our spirits.

Putting into practice what I learned, new ideas and opportunities occurred and my business started growing. One of the new projects implemented was the Coaches' Coaching Circle. Today there are over 70 members and new members are joining all the time.

Now it is your turn!

Share how your life has changed when you focus on "possibilities" rather then the day-to-day challenges. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

There is More to Life Than Emails

Do you wake-up in the morning and immediately check your emails?

Each morning, I wake-up at 4:45 am to meet my neighbor for our daily walk. Upon returning the first thing I do is check my emails.

One day I realized an Email Addiction was consuming my life! Thinking back, computers were introduced to our world and we were told they would make our lives easier. Well, I have to laugh, the reverse happened!

What is a person to do with a raging Email Obsession?

Emails are a connection to the outside world. Being business owners, it is important that we respond to the emails in a timely fashion. That does not mean we have to check our emails so often!

Some very important steps you can take to put your Email dependence into perspective:

  • Acknowledge emails are consuming a great deal of time. This is the first basic step in changing our behaviors.

  • Create a timeframe to check and respond to emails. Review them in the morning, mid-day and before you finish working. Following this schedule you are in touch with clients or customers on a timely basis.

  • Once an email is opened respond to it immediately. This method works wonders, you eliminate a backlog of emails to be answered.

Please share your email addiction solutions to overcome this habit together.

Secrets for the Unemployed

Ten Steps to Help You Enjoy Your Day

  1. Look at your day as 24 hours, consisting of different possibilities. Some experiences you enjoy and others move you forward in a different direction.

  2. Do your best. We are only human and mostly everything we do is with good intentions. When you find yourself acting in a way that is destructive to yourself or others start changing your behavior. STOP take a deep breathe and make a different choice.

  3. Acknowledge others. By celebrating accomplishments of others, you give them hope and motivation and create great things for yourself.

  4. Trust what is happening. A disappointment opens the door for other opportunities. See what you can do different next time.

  5. Be compassionate to yourself and others. This is a trying time and taking the time to acknowledge yourself and others gives everyone a sense of security.

  6. Acknowledge your negative thoughts. Remember these are only words going through your mind and not real. You have control over your thoughts and can stop them at a moments notice by thanking them and thinking about something which makes you happy.

  7. Accept everyone as they are. Most people don't have a hidden agenda and they act in a way they think will help you. Sometimes we have to let the person know in a loving and kind way they are not helping.

  8. Have the attitude that no one owes you anything. We are the only ones who can fulfill our basic needs. Give yourself a big hug.

  9. Love yourself and put that smile on your face. You are a beautiful person.

  10. This one is for you. What is your favorite way of having a beautiful day?

Now It is Your Turn!

Pick one of the ideas listed above and practice it all day. Be aware of the different feelings you have as other opportunities occur.

Please share with the Love Yourself - It Matters Community the steps you are taking to ensure you have a beautiful day.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
