Love Yourself - IT MATTERS

September / 2009

Do you think laughter is the best medicine? As circumstances happen I had the opportunity of testing this theory.

Whenever Anne, my walking and laugh partner, and I are together, we start to laugh for no apparent reason.

One evening we met friends for dinner and a movie. While walking over to the theatre, I was telling Anne a story which was not particularly funny.

All of a sudden we started to laugh uncontrollably and had difficulty walking. Knowing the movie was about to start we had to pull ourselves together.

When we entered the theater, our giggles turned into silly laughter again.

The more I tried to stop the harder I laughed. My stomach and sides were hurting. Eventually I stopped and felt peaceful and relaxed.

Verdict: Laughter is the best medicine.

By the way I also enjoyed the movie and had a great time with my friends.

It is your turn! Share your funny stories and how laughter made you feel. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Helen's Monthly Biz Tip

Do you constantly receive information about programs on how to build your business?
At first I would read those advertisements word for word until I realized, I'm already working on the issues they are promoting, on a daily basis, for my business.

The Basics. The essentials for building a business are networking, marketing, and most importantly creating creditability for your name.

  • Networking is essential for meeting people, building valuable contacts, gathering information, forming relationships and prospective clients.

  • Marketing comes in all forms by advertising in different venues (newspapers, magazines, etc.,) internet (Ezines, Blogs, etc.,) and workshops. Unfortunately, what I found is that you can't just stay in your office and hope everyone will learn about your services and programs. You have to let the public know about "YOU."

  • Creditability ensures that the public will consider you an expert in your niche. As an expert, it is easier for people to develop trust in you and your work. Once you have built their trust, people will invest in your services or products.

Contest News!

I am starting a contest and the winner will receive free advertisement for 3 months on the Love Yourself - It Matters! Ezine.

Attitude Adjustment for the Unemployed

Positive Changes

"Every small positive change
we make in ourselves
repays us in confidence
in the future."

~ Alice Walker

Reading this quote you might think to yourself, "Why do I constantly have to make small positive changes instead of just coasting through life?"

If anyone comes up with the answer please let us all know and we will all jump on board.

We are constantly making changes in our life as opportunities appear.

Two years ago, did you think you would be unemployed and looking for a new job? I know this opportunity was not a welcomed gift.

Let's turn things around and brainstorm for a few minutes what positive outcomes have been created.

  • No longer are you in a job that was not satisfying. Working in a particular job for years sometimes your creative juices stop flowing and things become mundane.

  • Opportunity to learn new skills. A new position includes different skills ensuring you are learning and creative again.

  • Builds relationships. During the unemployment journey you learned who is supportive, new communication skills and met new friends and associates.

  • A foundation for growth. You are becoming a strong person who is making decisions and trying new techniques during this difficult period. Someday you will look back and smile that you had made it through this time in your life.

The most important thing to remember is that you are creating positive changes in your life which will repay you with self-confidence.

The Love Yourself – It Matters Community is forming a support blog for the unemployed in their time of need. If you know of anyone who is on this journey please tell them about the Love Yourself - IT MATTERS! Blog
