Love Yourself - IT MATTERS

April / 2010

In New Jersey the temperatures hit the high 80s last week. All of a sudden I was pulling summer clothes out of the attic and putting the winter clothes away.

Isn't it amazing how in a day things can change? Our lives are the same way. One moment we can feel everything is going wrong and within a matter of seconds, things can change. We received that special phone call or a new client, etc. Our thinking changes and everything feels good again.

Let's create those special moments for ourselves during the day.

What steps can you take to change your thinking within a matter of seconds?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

P.S. I will be presenting a "Turning Your Ideas Into Action" Workshop tonight, April 13, 2010, 7:00pm at the Ewing Library, Ewing, NJ.

Would love for you to join me!

Helen’s Monthly Biz Tip

"Eliminating Mindless Busyness
in Your Workday"

Do you ever think at the end of the day, "What did I accomplish?" You went from email to email, coached clients, took breaks and did not accomplish what you set out to do.

Welcome to the world of the business owner!

To eliminate mindless busyness, start by planning, not managing your time. Become organized!

The following 4 tips will help create organization and reduce time wasting:

  1. Stop email distractions

It is easy to become addicted to emails. Reading emails is a form of escape. We unconsciously feel connected to others and let everything else slide.

We can create a time management plan by checking for emails three times a day, once in the morning, noontime and at the end of your business day. The important thing, limiting your time to only 30 minutes for each session. Then move onto the important work you have planned.

  2. Plan your day

At the beginning of your work day, sit down with your favorite drink and plan 1 to 3 activities you want to accomplish. Then write down the steps you are going to take. Keep in mind there are only 8 hours in a working day and everything cannot be accomplished in that timeframe.

  3. Project Planning

When working on larger projects, break the activities down into small steps, in order not to become overwhelmed. Remind yourself constantly to be realistic of how much time a specific step will take. Then schedule days and timeframes you will work on the specific activities.

  4. Evaluating

Before ending your work day, evaluate what you have accomplished. Continue following your plan or make revisions. Remember...nothing is set in stone and ideas/activities can be changed in a moment.

Always congratulate yourself for a job well done.

Now it is your turn! To start accomplishing work activities in a timely fashion. Please share your wins and lessons learned with the Love Yourself - It Matters Community.

Together we will build successful businesses.
